Course overview
Examine the rapid growth of labor and human rights conditionality of in free trade agreements and trade laws. We will trace the rise and evolution of the clauses, particularly in North America and Europe where they are most common. We will analyze the latest labor provisions of the USMCA, including its new rapid response mechanism on freedom of association. We will look at the EU’s evolving approach to trade, sustainability, and development, comparing and contrasting the North American and European approaches. We will assess what stakeholders should know to be in compliance.
